MUSIC ROUNDUP: November Releases 2021

Aino Elina - Sillalla 

Finnish-born, Glasgow-based solo artist Aino Elina has been honing her talents in crafting stunning electro pop since her debut single Vankina back in 2017. With the latest track Sillala, from her upcoming debut album in 2022, is a soothing and ethereal embrace. The production is enveloping with the winding vocals sung in her native language wrapping you in a wash of pop perfection. 

Amanda Wilkinson, Jayda - Revolution, Retribution 

Also a part of the Hen Hoose project, this track sees Producer AMUNDA (Amandah Wilkinson) and singer Jayda team up on the powerful Revolution, Retribution. With a booming bass line laying the foundation for Jayda’s invigorating lyrics that attack the injustices we all face in our everyday lives. 

Bleed From Within - I Am Damnation 

Fresh off their recent signing to Nuclear Blast Records, Glasgow’s Metal king Bleed From Within are no messing around with this new track. I Am Damnation is a punishing slab of concrete riffs from the get go. Leading the way for a new album in 2022, fans will be able to get a first taste of new material at their headline show in Glasgow’s Garage on 27th November. 

Blue Violet - Asylum 

Having hunkered down in a Devon studio in late 2019, acoustic rock duo Blue Violet recorded material for their debut album. This year saw the pair begin to release a slew of singles on the lead up to the LP, starting with Undercover which saw airplay and praise from BBC Introducing and BBC Scotland. This latest track Asylum is a heady mix of enticing vocal melodies and driving guitars. 

Finn Anderson - The Lighthouse

Writing his first EP before he even left school at 16, Fife’s own Finn Anderson has been crafting his own sound since then. Merging a love of theatre and music together by intertwining storytelling lyrics with a bold and dramatic musical backdrop. Coming from his latest LP “Into the Arms of Ghosts”, The Lighthouse is fused with Scottish Traditional stylings over a sweeping flurry of vocals that really open up in a cinematic scope. 

KAVARI - Born To Submit

Nominee for Best Electronic at this year's SAMA’s, emerging artist KAVARI is pushing the boundaries of the genre, turning heads as she creates these visceral yet beautiful compositions. Born to Submit comes from her sophomore LP, perfectly encapsulating the diverse soundscapes and punishing beats. 

Keep Quiet - Killed With Kindness

Beginning as a pandemic project between Callum Doris and Jordan Speirs, recorded between two tenement flats, Keep Quiet has come to fruition with the debut EP Killed With Kindness. The title track is a furious, driving force of gritty alt-rock. Evoking the glory days of Alexisonfire as well as modern artists such as Modern Colour. 

Kobi Onyame - My Prayer

Pulling you in immediately with its grooving beat and instantly infectious backing vocals, Glasgow-based Hip Hop artist Kobi Onyame’s latest single is sure to set dancefloors alight. My Prayer is the lead single of the long awaited follow up to 2017’s Gold. Keeping the beat locked in a groove Onyame is able to flex his slick vocal prowess and let the hooks of the song weave in and out of his lyrics. The forthcoming LP Don't Drink the Poison is out on 26th November. 

MALKA, Karine Polwart - These Are The Nights 

Coming from the inaugural release from the Hen Hoose collective, the all female collaboration project helmed by Glasgow solo artist MALKA that aims to even the gender imbalance within the music industry. These Are the Nights is just one of the many fantastic collaborations on this LP. With MALKA and folk singer Karine Polwart teaming up for this, the track is laden with melodies underneath an energising drum beat. 

PAQUE - Never Know 

Trailblazing Glasgow Rapper PAQUE has been turning heads in the scene since his debut single in 2016. Since then, PAQUE has been perfecting his craft with an unstoppable string of tracks. The latest release Never Know is propelled by an eerie string hook before commanding all attention to his weaving rhymes.
