Time to dive into another playlist of new music from artists from Scotland.

4 Tune Girls - Where You At?

A brand new pop/R&B group 4 Tune Girls come together to create a powerful and body moving track in Where You At? The song allows each of the group to flex their vocal flairs, under pounding 808 bass and a snappy drum beat that mixes an old school soul with a modern R&B twist.

Becky Sikasa - Twelve Wooden Boxes

The incomparable Neo-Soul artist Becky Sikasa has released her fifth single of 2022, the beautiful Twelve Wooden Boxes. Having headlined Edinburghs Sneaky Petes in July, the singers slew of singles has encapsulated a wide audience, all enamoured by the musicians talent to weave soulful melodies that hit directly in the soft spot in your heart. Twelve Wooden Boxes is a breeze of Neo-soul goodness, the soft keys and subtle drums giving the track a vintage feel with a new twist.

Cloth - Low Sun

Following the indie duo Cloths return with the Lucid single, the band have quickly regained their position within the music scene with a tour later this year and a slot at the brand new Connect Festival this weekend. Low Sun is the latest track to be released this year, an intense slow burn of a song that glistens with guitar lead lines and angelic vocals.

Danko - Gecko

Four-piece rock outfit Danko have had a electric year, with appearances at Sound City, Country 2 Country Glasgow and a EP launch show at Glasgows McChuills this September. Coming ahead of the EP, Gecko is a bluesy rocker that is brimming with sharp lead lines and a heavy hitting rhythm section that keeps the track grounded. Imbuing the track with an anthemic streak reminiscent of Americana heroes of the 70’s.

Her.picture - I’m Still Here

Formally known as FAUNA, her.picture are the next stage in a musical evolution that has been gestating for the last year and initially explode back onto the music sign with the debut single The Nature of It. Starting an alluring vocal and guitar arpeggios, the quartet slowly rise like waves as they build a vast and atmospheric soundscape. Firing into the thunderous climax of the song the band create a stunning and deeply moving performance, with lead singer Annie’s vocals reaching Jeff Buckley levels of emotion. Catch her.picture’s debut headline at McChullis in Glasgow 25th August.

Inferiem - Whisphers

SAMA Best Metal Winners 2019 Inferiem have returned from a two year absence with the punishing new EP Whispers. The title track from the EP is an unrelenting onslaught of riffs, that grind away in perfect tandem with the flurries of double kicks and growling bass.

Kode9 - Cross The Gap

Between duties running the groundbreaking Hyperdub record label and excellent live sets, Kode9 has established himself as a major influence in the electronia/dance scene across the world. Raised in Glasgow, Steve Goodman spent his youth getting his DJ chops up to an impeccable standard. Going on to release numerous remixes and original productions, the latest being the expansive dub masterclass Escapology. Cross the Gap features panoramic synth sounds that swirl around the jittering kick drums and other precussion.

Majesty Palm - Side Eye

Fresh from supporting SLIVI at the King Tuts Summer Nights concert series, Majesty Palm are gearing up to be one of the hottest acts to rise on the scene this year. Side Eye is the third single from the band, with more to follow this year. Combining influences from Japanese Breakfast and local heroes the Ninth Wave, Side Eye is a powerhouse of slick bass and a punchy chorus. The alchemy of singer Olivia McCosh and guitarist Cameron Robertson is perfectly balanced together as they craft the sleek melodies and fuzzy synth chords that propels the track.

SILVI - Burning

Emerging on the scene with two singles and her debut gig in February this year, SILVI has been whipping up a storm with her unique style of alternative pop. With the newest single Burning being a defiant ballad, tinged with a heartfelt soul but with the undercurrent of alt-rock aggressiveness behind it. Having recently played a packed headline show at King Tuts Summer Nights series, SILVI will no doubt keep ascending through to even bigger venues within the year.

Tzusan - Pink Moscato

Taking a more experimental and almost abstract approach to Hip-hop, Edinburgh based artist Tzusan manages to create some of the most engaging tracks in the genre. Delivering a smooth flow, filled with social commentaries and sniping metaphors, the instrumental behind Pink Moscato reaches a number of different hip-hop staples. Going from a saxophone solo to a blow out electronic bass line kicking in, reaching a new sonic playground.
